The Difference between Injection Mold and Aluminium Alloy Die Casting Mold

2023-10-18

When it comes to molds, people often associate Aluminium Alloy Die Casting molds with injection molds. In fact, the difference between the two is still very large. Dry die casting is to fill the mold cavity with liquid or semi-liquid metal at a very high speed and solidify under pressure to obtain die castings. It is generally used for metal materials, and injection molding is the main method of thermoplastic molding. Thermoplastics are made of thermoplastic resins, which can be softened by repeated heating and solidified by cooling. It is a physical process that is reversible, that is, it can be used as recycled plastics. Yes, although both of them use molds to make products, although the working principles are not much different, and the materials are different, the molds used are naturally different. The following editor will briefly tell you the difference between die-casting molds and injection molds!

1. The injection pressure of the die-casting mold is high, so the requirements for the template of the mold are relatively high, and it should be relatively thick to prevent deformation.

2. The gate of the die-casting mold is also different from that of the plastic mold. It should be the high pressure that needs to be divided into splitter cones to decompose the material flow.

3. The core of the die-casting mold does not need to be quenched, because the temperature in the mold cavity is relatively high during die-casting, which is equivalent to a quenching, while the injection mold needs to be quenched.

4. Nitriding treatment is required in the cavity of the die-casting mold to prevent the alloy mucous membrane cavity.

5. Generally, the corrosion of the die-casting mold is relatively large, and the outer surface is usually bluish.

6. Injection molds generally rely on thimbles, and the faceted type can be exhausted. Die-casting molds must have exhaust grooves and slag collection bags.

7. Die-casting molds have higher requirements for facet type matching, because the fluidity of alloys is much better than that of plastics, and it will be very dangerous for high-temperature and high-pressure flow materials to fly out of the facet type.

8. Compared with the injection mold, the die-casting mold has a larger matching clearance of the movable distribution part, because the high temperature of the die-casting process will cause thermal expansion, and if the clearance is too small, the mold will be stuck.
